The idea of producing more and more goods at an ever increasingly cheaper rate sounds great and beneficial for everyone. Being able to have the technology and resources to efficiently produce goods at a larger scale than ever before allows people the luxury to afford whatever they want and however much, right? I think it can be both a good thing and a bad thing depending on how far the consequences can go as a result of heightened availability of goods/manufacturing.
While the idea of increasingly cheaper production and greater output of goods generally is applied to materialistic goods such as phones, clothes, electronics, and miscellaneous items, it can also be applied to technological/scientific and medically based goods/advancements. As it becomes cheaper to produce and manufacture parts and materials for medical equipment, computer chips, and components to further technology, the costs to access and use those goods ideally SHOULD be more affordable as a general assumption. A digression into a downside- unfortunately, some companies take advantage of the cheaper costs to maintain a profit by keeping past prices constant or hiking up the costs to turn over a massive profit. An example can be comparing the prices of something like scalpels which have become easier to mass produce and have maintained a low cost compared to easier production of some medications, yet the costs have skyrocketed, because of company decisions or insurance influences.
Food also becomes more affordable with the increase in technology to further mass produce goods to meet demand or lower costs for consumers.
The downside to goods production becoming cheaper and cheaper is the irreparable damage to the environment because of meeting and exceeding expectations. Another issue is an inflated consumerist environment with the enablement of greed for wanting more and more.

I enjoyed reading this article it opened my eyes to how we see goods and the prices we give them. Sometimes making items that are necessary cheap do not have a good outcome. Instead it does the opposite affect by blinding us to advancements. It was interesting also seeing the companies aspect on how they contribute to the negative outcomes.
